How to check the MOT history of any car
Are you buying a new car this year? Does it have a current MOT certificate? Do you want to research it’s MOT history?
Millions of drivers will be, so the team at SB Motors Hove thought this post would help you check some important information first.
The DVSA ( Driver and vehicle standards agency) pubish a wide range of online tools you can use free to check on various aspects of your car and the MOT Test.
An important tool we found recently was the Check MOT history tool. You can check a certificate against a vehicle and ensure that it is genuine.
Click here to use the tool on the DVSA Website.
You can see if an MOT certificate is genuine by checking its details against what’s recorded.
You’ll need the vehicle’s:
- make
- registration number (number plate)
Important Note:
You can only get test results for MOT certifiates from 2005 onwards. Unfortnately some MOT test results for recently transferred personalised registrations aren’t available – they are likely to become available once the details have been updated by the DVLA.
